I am starting to wonder about a certain discus breeder which I am not going to name. I have purchased two fish from him and they don't seem to be right. One is 5 inches and has an aggression problem with no matter what fish or how many are in the tank. He/she has a problem seeing its food the eye sight problem could result in aggression, not sure and hides like my other fish. He has been with the other six fish for quite some time around 4 weeks and is very skittish unlike the others. Makes me wonder. I just bought 2 more discus from another breeder near our home and they are doing great. Any ideas?

is this breeder actually breeding fish or is he distributing fish from another hatchery?

I know some who do just this.. they do this to get stock to add to their lines.. selling the less desirable fish. keeping the others for his breed stock.

Late reply, I got one more fish from just before I wrote for advice. And the new fish has some major issues with hiding acting skittish even more so than the other. I am not sure if he gets his fish from somewhere else or not. But I refuse to buy fish from him anymore. He is out of San Francisco.

hiding and skittish behavior is normal for new discus, usually takes them a few days to 2 weeks to get used to their new surroundings.
