i remember reading a thread about an individual that had a dark blue color morph in their RCS colony that he separated and put in his work RCS tank.. the pictures were amazing and i just have to say that one of my RCS is displaying A LOT of the same shade of blue
these aren't blue pearls by any means.. it's a much darker, richer and thicker blue.. the coloration is exactly the same opacity as the red pigments on RCS..
i was thinking that we could be on the verge of a new color morph!! one that's as easy to care for as regular hardy RCS but a much richer blue color, more so than the mainly pale blue, blue pearls..
any thoughts?

You just need to get a male and female of the morph isolated. ;)

wow...definately get them seperated and see how this turn out. those are much prettier than the pale ones.
just read that thread, super nice shrimp!!!

Neocaridina Denticulata is the deprecated name for RCS / yellow shrimp / wild type. I assume this is what Rugh meant? The current name is Neocaridina Heteropoda.
A true-breeding strain of blue neocaridina heteropoda would be pretty fantastic. :) Good luck!

Very interesting. You know I have noticed that some of my very dark red females have a slight blue tint to them. Not as much as the above picture but they do have some.

it's amazing that it still has the red colouration to it's shell and yet it's soooo blue underneath. i'd love to see this become a new strain

It may be a sign of impending alien domination. :22_yikes:
You should alert the authorities. :grinno:

I have a very very small tint of blue in mine. none as extreme as those showed above and in those links tho. I'm jealous!!!
