I have a blue gourami that has hardly been moving and spending all of its time sitting on the bottom. Its tail looks kind of tattered. It doesn't look good for this guy. He is fairly old so I am thinking old age could definitely be a possibility. Any thoughts?

If his tail is tattered it sounds like there is something wrong with him other than old age. Does he have fin rot/fungus that is interfering with his swimming and so he rests more? Is he getting picked on?

Water parameters?

His tail is slightly tattered (I think, not sure) but otherwise appears absolutely fine. Hardly swimming though. I haven't tested the water parameters but I do water changes all the time and all the other fish look normal.

Tattered like "torn" or tattered like "possible fin rot?" If you have a hospital tank, I'd take him out and treat with a teense of salt and/or melafix.
