mag float

I think they are great, I have one in almost every tank.

I got one and was not impressed. It was supposed to be "acrylic safe" but scratched hell out of the SO's tank. (lfs guy says that many tanks called acrylic are actually just plain ol' plastic, so this may not have been entirely the mag-float's fault.) And it only cleaned a little strip like 1/4 inch on each pass, so it was a substantial amount of scrubbing to clean even one wall of a 12g.

A fuzzy plastic scrubber pad works much better, imho, besides being cheaper. Yes you get your arm wet. /shrug

I use them on my glass tanks with no problems.

BTW mag float has 2 models one is acrylic safe(blue) the other is not.

I just started using one on my glass tanks. Takes quite a bit of "elbow grease" to scrub the whole tank front---those are STRONG little magnets!---but it works really well. I imagine the snails don't like it too much though when I knock them off the glass.

mag floats are great if your afraid to get wet but since you do own a fish tank i doubt thats an isue
that and they can only clean the front and maybe the sides of the tank so for the back wall you will need to spend $1 buying an aquarium safe sponge and your hand will go in the water for that anyway

of course theres an exeption for everything if you have a realy big tank that you need scuba gear to reach the bottom of
or if you have a fish that you dont realy want to put your hand in tha water with (poisonus, bitey)
than the mag float is fantastic

They rock... No fuss algae scraper.

I had one for my 30G and is a quick and easy way to get a pristine glass. One came with my 72G Bow and is amazingly easy to use as well. No scratches and stays in the tank 24/7. Just make sure the magnet you have matches the tank size and is acrylic/glass oriented.
