My fish all died from ich a few days ago and I've learned by now not to rush things with aquariums. I'd like to restock my aquarium as soon as safely possible, how long does it take for ich to go away on it's own without hosts? I know the temp should be 84-86 to shorten the lifespan of the parasite but there's still one last minnow i there as a test fish. How long should I give these parasites time to die off?

Afew q's first. Was your tank cycled? What did you have stocked in there( include #'s and sizes)? How did ich get in your tank to begin with? What are your stock plans for the future? Now ich can't survive more than 24hrs w/o a host ( taken from http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1657382&postcount=2 ). So if you took your minnow out they won't have a host to survive on, regardless of temp., meds, etc.

55 gal, 10 baby silver dollars, stress killed them. The tank had water from my established aquarium, never cycled

I'd wait at least 4 weeks.
