Hello - Happy to be here ... was referred by another member.

I don't have a tank nor any fish ... but hope to get started really soon.

I'm in Boston (suburbs) and want to do it right. I've visited a few stores locally but want to be sure I'm getting good info.

If anyone has any insight or suggestions for someone like me (who is clueless/a novice), please feel free to reply or contact me.

I hope to get a small (maybe 10 gallon) aquarium with some community freshwater fish. Is a 10-gallon tank okay or too small? Any recommendations on how many and/or what kind of fish I could have in such a tank?

Thank you.

Hello and :welcome: to AC. Nice to see someone is doing a little research before just jumping in with both feet :). My personal experience with purchasing an aquarium, started with a 5 gallon for my Betta, a 10gallon to give him a little more room and some friends, a 20 gallon(same excuse) a 33 gallon long and now a 60gallon...so, personally, if I had to do it all over again I would start with a larger tank because MTS(multiple tank syndrome) doesn't take too long to set in, LOL!!! That being said a 10 gallon aquarium, is a perfectly good starter tank :thm:
