Quick question though... I need to put some mesh over the tank top for my jawfish, but how should I do it? I have it under the light legs but it's in the water a little, which I'm not sure if that's ok or not. It's a black plastic mesh, like window screen.
Any ideas? Thanks!

could you just fit the mesh to the rim of your tank? Its probably not good to have the mesh in the water. do you have the mesh stretched on a frame? or just draped on the tank?

It's stretched over the rim of the tank, held in place by the light legs, but the center still touched the water a little, esp with the tank filled to the rim.
I'll try to post a pic...

LOL really??? If you don't typically lose fish I may risk it, but if you're just being funny then I really will try to figure something out. :)

If I used some sort of metal hardware cloth, would there be a problem with it rusting from the saltwater? Is there maybe some sort of paint I could coat it with to keep it sealed?
Thanks!

No to metal (not even painted). Is the mesh in your water metal? You want pond netting used to keep birds out. Frame that into a window frame kit you can get at any hardware store. Problem with this netting is finding it in 1/4" grids. It's usually at HD but its 1/2" which won't help much with a jawfish. You can double 1/2" the netting or criss-cross it to make the grids smaller which looks to be what the link above shows.
