mites!

So today one of my leopard frogs kicked over his massive (for a frog) deuce and the turd was crawling with little tiny mites. I have a coconut fiber substrate with Irish Moss so I don't really want to take the poops out.

Are these mites anything to worry about? If so, could I spray them with caffeine to kill them?

If you dont want to take poop out give away the frog or take it back. With substrate like it should be replaced weekly. Just go buy some latex gloves and take the waste out before it the mites overrun your frog.

I had been told that the bacteria in a damp coconut fiber substrates break down the fecal matter, but apparently it's not breaking it down fast enough.
