Scooped this up from a creek with a net, never seen one this color. In water it is a creamy white and the speckles look almost blue.

looks like it. the bigger they are the more translucent the shells seem to get.

That's a little Pondie.
I used breed them in, a huge favourite of the pearl black ones I used to get, but I did a line of lighter coloured ones which were similiar to that, but lighter & without spots. They're shells were just as strong as the other ones.
In the wild though, some of them will develope into different colours, depending on their environment, diet, how much sunlight, etc, etc... They're variable & very tough. I love them.

Cute! I have seen a lot of variation in color on these guys. I found some wild ones once that had yellow antennae!

Thanks for the replies, I kinda thought it was just a normal pond with a color variation. Really interesting that the spots look blue. I was going to go scoop some goo this weekend but we have had a lot of rain the past 2 days and the creeks/rivers are all muddy. May have to wait til next weekend now.

I was just wondering the other day if anyone ever tried to breed pond snails for particular colors. I'd love to hear more about your experiences. :)

If you enlarge the photo enough it's NOT an ordinary pond snail. There's a little "S" on the shell, and a tiny red cape... :hitting:
