Question about paint in the tank

I used krylon fusion to paint the overflows in my 180 freshwater tank. I have read that many have used this paint. I did it to make the pvc overflows match the back of my tank, which is painted as well(on the outside). Well it's been about 3 weeks and now the paint is bubbling and coming off the overflows. Any way to stop this from happening? I don't want to see the white pipes in my tank.
 
I used it on my tank without any problem .
 
Did you scuff up the pipe surfaces with some sandpaper prior to painting? That's a generally recommended practice to achieve better adhesion of the paint.

With your paint coming off already, it sounds to me like there the surface wasn't prepped properly. How did you prep it/paint it?
 
I agree with the above. Sounds like you did not prep the surface. I sandpaper, then clean with rubbing alcohol.

Textbook painting prep for machined surfaces. Ay grit should do, as long as you strip the finish.
 
ok thanks, I know I did one pipe but my son helped me with the other and maybe it wasn't sanded properly. Guess I'll pull them out and redo them. Thanks for the input.
 
Ok, well I prepped my PVC with acetone right before painting(fusion) it. I am having no problems.

If you wipe with acetone, no need to scuff.

PVC has a thin film of oil on it, to prevent it from becoming brittle in a warehouse somewhere, or wherever...
