I have been using an AC mini on my 10 gal tank, and was considering getting one for my 5 gal fry tank. But I am worried that new fry will be sucked up the intake tube, or that the current from the outflow is too strong. It seems to create a very strong current in my 10 gal and I am concerned that it will not be worth my money if I get another for the 5 gal. Will the fry be sucked in and will the current be too much for them?

you could take some material similar to netting material and wrap around the intake :idea2: . Just don't get material with holes that are too small, or it will stress the motor.

Can always put something around the intake like pantyhose

A couple of years ago I had some breeding Convicts and a few of the stray fry were sucked into the filter...found them swimming in the bottom of it when I changed the media, but I'd say their survival was an exception.
