View Full Version : pike cichlids and convicts in 55 gallon??

:confused: wondering if anyone knows if a pike cichlids and convits cichlids will be ok togehter have them in a 55 gallon tank the pike is orange right now from what i have been reading he will change colors but the convicts i have had for awhile and dont know if i should move them back into the 55 gallon along with the pike by the way have guppies and a batch of convict fry in there already with the pike and havent lost any babies yet maybe they to fast for him hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm makes me wonder helppppppppppppppppppppppp:confused:

That cute little pike cichlid that is bright orange is going to turn into a lunker with a potential size of 12"-14".
You can probably keep one or two cons in with the pike for a while but eventually you will have just one big pike. The only concern I would have at this point is if the cons decide to breed they could, potemtially, beat up the pike. A breeding pair of cichlids knows no fear.
By the way, the official name of your pike is Crenicichla sp. 'Xingu I' and here's what your pike will change to:

hey thanks for the reply,and thanks for the answer know bout the convicts have had them for awhile just wasnt sure bout the pike i have 2 tanks so will keep them separated dont want the cons killing him here grown attached to him fast so thanks again
