eye fungus?

i bought this krib yesterday at a lfs. when i put her in the tank i realized one of her eyes looked funny. you couldn't see the pupil like on the other eye. anybody know what this is?

Yea that doesn't look very healthy. Have you looked up other pictures of them to see if its normal? Hopefully its nothing to serious. He seems like a cool fish.

Kind of looks like pop eye which is a bacterial infection. Have you checked your water parameters? Usually these kind of things can be attributed to something wrong with the water quality. My acei got an eye infection because my filter on my QT tank died and the water quality got bad. With lots of water changes and a new filter it cleared right up. Sometimes some antibiotics are needed as well depending on how bad it is.

The white spot you see is either an active infection, either fungal or bacterial, or it is a scar from a previous injury. If it's a scar, there's nothing you can do and the fish will be fine. If it's an infection, this is not good and would require either antibiotics or anti fungals to treat -- which from experience never help anyway. Keep the water very clean and hopefully his natural immune system will fight off the infection and save the eye (and the fish).

I would keep an eye on it, and keep the water quality PRISTINE. Lots of water changes. Watch to see if it gets worse or better. If it gets any worse, we can look at treatment. But fish from the store often have to deal with water quality issues, so being in a clean tank could help more than anything.

yea it seems like she can't see from that eye. she swims tilted to the right a little bit and bumps into things. i called the lfs and they told me to use melafix. gonna see how that turns out
