how long should i leave my lights on

I have a 29 biocube and i have green star polyps and some zoos and i turn on the blue light around 8am and then the 10k a hour or so later9am and turn the 10k off at 9pm and the blue one at 10pm thats like 12 hours and my firneds are ssaying is to much but i read thats the light my kind of corals need also i seen that my tank is growing green algae maybe is the lights too? how long should i do the lights how many hours

i also fragged a lil peice of green star polyp in a 2 inch rock in the middle like 8 polyps are open i wanna see if its true that they spread

Yes 12 hours a day of your lights is definitely contributing to algae growth.

I turn on the blue actinics and then an hour later the white. 8 hours later I turn off the white and then turn off the actinic an hour after that.

The green star polyps will spread don't worry. given time and good conditions they will spread and fill in nicely.

COOL so now im just gonna leave the light on for 8 hours see the diff
 
I run the daylights / white lights for 7 - 8 hours, too. I run my actinics / blue lights a little longer, having them come on 90 minutes prior and turning off 90 minutes after the daylights.

And yes, your green star polyps should grow and spread nicely. Perhaps too well, in all honestly, but they are easy to frag when needed.
