Bought a small piece of LR with this fuzzy looking tree and a little bush growing on it. Any ideas?

Any ideas? Could it be a sponge of some sort?

Can you get closer? I can't tell if it's bushy, has polyps or what. Sorry.

I'll try and get a better pic, I'm not so good at taking pictures of the tank. It is covered in little hairs all over.

The blob on the left looks like a red, hairy alga that I have seen. The branchy thing on the right is mysterious. Is it squishy, rigid, or what?

I cut this from the original photo, not super clear but hopefully it will help. The smaller thing appears to be the same as the larger. It is fairly rigid to the touch, but I didn't push hard or squeze or anything.

Bigger, yet still mysterious. Well, I'll call it a sponge. Why not?

I have the same thing on some of my rocks. most of them are still like bud size but i have one or two that are starting to look like small trees. But mine aren't quite as hairy looking as your but they do have a little fuzz on them. I thought it looked like that coral you see that is usually orange. don't know.

Sounds good to me, just gives me something to watch regardless of what it is! Thanks for the replies!
