When I get my 20g long upgraded to the 55, I will have an empty tank. That doesn't fly around here, so what should I do with it?
I was thinking of seahorses, or maybe a small angler... something different but that will be ok with some coral frags (as this is the tank I'll use for the frags as my corals grow).
I am pretty open to ideas, though, so as long as it will fit in that tank/set-up then I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

I wouldn't do seahorses in a tank you intend to use to grow out frags. Seahorses do not typically like the amount of flow many corals prefer, and as they look for places to hold on, they can irritate corals they grasp onto.

When I was looking into seahorses, I found out that a tank as short as a 20g long doesn't make a very good seahorse tank. As I asked around, recommendations were frequently made to not put them in a tank shorter than 16" - 18".

An angler would work, but it will walk over / perch on top corals as it moves around / sits to fish for food. So, it has a few drawbacks as well.

Not sure what kind of fish you like, but something like cardinals or a shrimp goby and shrimp pairing could be nice. If you search around, you'll likely find opportunities to pick up some of the less common gobies, sometimes already paired up with a shrimp.

Do you think even the dwarf seahorses would be too much? I've been looking at all types today, and they seem to be small enough.
Oh, but then the waterflow problem...hmmmm.
What do you think about a dwarf lion? Would he be too rough on corals? Of course, even a dwarf may be too large.
I really want something a little out of the ordinary... something not found in a typical community set-up, as that's what I already have.
Thanks for your advice!

I have a little Sebastapistes cyanostigma (Yellow-Spotted Scorpionfish); they're tiny, colourful, cute and personable. They can be a little tricky to get eating but once they start they'll eat anything. Mine was real scrawny when I got him but he's growing now. Can be kept with other fish (very peaceful) and since they are so small they can only eat the tiniest of fish.

And did I mention they're cute :).

Ooooh, I like him! Will a scorpion fish work with corals?
Thanks!!

ETA: Sorry, just saw they are poisonous like lionfish... thinking I may skip those as I do have 2 young children. I try to keep them away from the tanks, but you know how kids are!

He is SUPER cute, though!!!
