Had a tiny tiny Ich breakout on my GBR after I introduced him into his planted home. So I raised the tank temp from 80F to 86F and dosed with salt and upped the water changes, etc etc etc. and he was Ecstatic and swimming and having fun, albeit covered with a couple Ich spots.... So once everything was all well again, I lowered the temp back down to 80 so I wouldn't boil my pygmy cory's, snail and Otto any more than I had to as they were hardly moving at all when I had the temp so high.

Now my GBR just 'chills' out behind some wood in the tank and only comes out to eat during feedings and then darts back to his hiding spot.

I know Rams want water between 78 and 85 with 80-82 being their "sweet spot" but my Ram seemed to have a sweet spot of 85F which would suck because I would end up eliminating all my fish to make One happy which is of course unacceptable.

Oh, and I lowered the temp down over a 3 day period so as not to shock the tank.

Any opinions on his change in activity level with the only changes being temperature down to 80F from 85F and him Not having Ich anymore?

edit: all water parameters are golden.

might have gotten a secondary illness from being stressed with ich
keep a look out on the gbr for other symptoms.

been keeping a close eye on him for 3 days now. He looks healthy as can be. Fully colored up, does eat well, no redness or swelling in the gills. Hopefully it will pass in the next few days :(

Give him time. He is probably exited to have his own territory and still getting used to his new home. When I had rams it took a while for them to get excited enough to come out all the time.

I dunno. I have always found blue rams to favor warmer water,

IME 80 is too low.
they pair well with discus as they tend to like similar water= clean and warm.
