well i ahve had bad luck with my previous 2 CB's. 1 fell victim to a violent yellow tang and the other just wouldnt eat and finally starved. this one has been eating like a champ grazing on the LR
all day and eating anything i offer. just a few minutes ago i went and looked in the tank to see what he was doing and i noticed what looks like the beginnings of ich and a small white patch that looks like fungus. the tank is still kinda new.but he has been in for bout a month and has been fine.my water is perfect as far as
amm/no2/no3/ph only tests i have. my water has been cloudy the last few days. i was adding kalkwasser but i stopped because i wanted to wait a while to let the tank age and get better established.what can i do to prevent this fish from dieing?
i do have a 10 gallon tank and i have been keeping some filter floss in my filter on the main tank. should i put the floss in the 10g filter and mix new water?this is a bare tank. no substrate.
the water has been cloudy and im thinking this is the problem but i dont know for sure.what would cause this?how can i fix it with the best results? any advice?:(

thx

usually cloudy water on a new tank is a bacterial bloom, the bacteria that colonize the filtration system building up.

Is this the first fish in the system? How did you cycle it? I would think what happened is the system was mostly cycled but you put the fish in and it spiked the ammonia a bit and now your having a mini cycle.

double check the ammonia levels. see if they aren't up a bit.

it has been cycled for almost a month. he is the first and only so far. i started cycling with bl/gr chromis then added alot of LR.
HUGE amm spike chromis died tank was cycled week and a half later. 2 weeks and a couple days to cycle. he has been in since it cycled.

hmm
i did a water check and the ammonia is up a bit looks like about
0.15 ppm. i just checked it this morning and was zero and i only fed him twice today.i did a water change 3 days ago.
is this the new tank syndrome? because i think my filtration is ample enough to support one 3'' fish. i hate frozen food.
so what is the best way to not kill my fish now that i know what is wrong and have done a water change.?

well there are a couple things you could do. Ideally take the fish out if you are showing signs of ammonia.

Other than that keep a lot of mixed saltwater on hand, like enough to change 50% of the tank. If that ammonia goes any higher do a major water change, and be ready to do another.

Keep a close eye on nitrites as well as ammonia. And monitor the fishes demeanor. If he starts breathing heavy, not swimming correctly, getting pale, or showing spots... it's bad.

Just out of curriosity how did you cycle the tank? 30 days is pretty short, but you probably were very close to being complete. was it a fishless cycle with raw shrimp method, did you use damsels, cured live rock?
