Hi! I just bought these two corys from a tank of greens. I don't think that is what they are. Can anyone help me ID them? The color of the picture is a little off. They are dark, dark gray (almost black) with a clearly deliniated vertical stripe, as shown in the picture. Bellies are distinctly whitish.

Can anyone tell me what they are? I can't seem to find any like these on Planet Catfish.

Thanks for your help.

Does nobody know what these are, or is it so obvious that no one wants to embarrass me? :)

It's all I could really find. Maybe a darker variant of a bronze? Cute little guys, I love corys!

I think it is a bronze as well. I have 2 that are really dark like that.

It looks like some Bronchis sp. or something?

If not a C. aeneus it could be a Brochis species (maybe Brochis britskii none of whom are pictured on PC w/ a fully upright dorsal fin, so it's really tough to tell).

I thought maybe cory aeneus, but these are MUCH darker (I know there are color variations) and have this really obvious vertical stripe. It will be interesting to see what they grow up to be. Thank you all for your input and help.

It must be some kind of brochis-- It does, indeed, have 10 rays in the dorsal fin. Now the question is-- which one?

I think the black form of Corydoras Schultzei?

Anyway - those little guys need some fattening up! Their bellies are bulging the wrong way! :)

My guess would be a subspecies of Brochis.

100% sure it is not a cory. It is a Brochis. Think it is a Brochis Splendens.

My first thought was a Brochis species as well, simply because of the elongated "snout".

Worry not, Fishycat! Those pictures were taken an hour after I rescued them from a big box store. They are dining happily on both shrimp pellets and on wafers, so hopefully they will plump up a little. Thanks for your guess on the schwartzii. I was hoping for that, until I counted the radial spines. Oh well, they're cute little devils, anyway.
