Hello all
This is my first post on this forum and I'm fairly new to salt water fish keeping. One of my well meaning friends gave me a Crinoid as a Christmas gift. So far it's doing very well I have a 90 gal tanks with a fair amount of live rock. I prbly have 20 lbs of rock my lsf told me that since I was useing pre-cured live rock that I should just add it a couple pounds at a time. I'm concerned about the long term health of my ,"gift". He seems to be doing ok so far I'm feeding him newly hatched brine shrimp, marine snow and fine grade flake food. My tank population isn't very large in addition I have a flower anenome, 5 molly fish, " salt adjusted used to cycle my tank", a coral banded shrimp 2 peppermint shrimp, 3 brittle stars,1 file shell clam , approx 12 blue reef crabs, 2 red reef crabs and a chalk basslet. My water quality is fine have pleanty of water movement good protien skimming. Very sorry if I'm going into too much detail. thank you

Those are not very common in the trade at all. Do you know what species of of the genus Crinoid it is? There are a few.

To be honest I'm not even 100% sure it is a Crinoid it looks most like Himerometra robustipinna but, it's upper arms are blue and black & the base is white. I wish that I had a digital camera. I know how hard it is to identify a criter from a discription. It's Nocturnal and I'm pretty sure that it's a carnivore.

See if you can find any pics of it on the net that you can put a link to in here. That will help. We dont want to give out the wrong care for the wrong thing.
