Not to over-do the posts tonight...but I do have a new (problem)? I added what appeared to be an interesting new live rock to my micro-reef and discovered some new critters that I have not positively identified yet.

They are fast moving little buggers that sort of look like multi-legged bugs - whitish in color - fairly small - and quite a gang of them which seem mostly nocturnal.

They are a little creepy in comparison to the rest of the tank because they move very quickly. They move like a bug scurrying across the kitchen floor. Although getting the can of raid in this environment seems hopeless (just kidding of course).

Any guess on these things?

Cheers.

Guessing pods, which are good. There are several other threads going around on this right now too!

Thanks for the guess... I thought pods were a bit smaller. These things are about a half an inch long. But you may be right...

Cheers.

My pods have never been that big, but I'm sure they would be eaten if they got that large...However, I dont know how big they'll get. Except for the half inch part it sounds like the pods I have. Maybe someone else will know better

Well according to this site - they note various ones range from 1 to 10mm (amphipods)...

(of course this is Southern Australia)

I have amphipods that get almost that big. Sounds more like isopods, though. Do they look like pillbugs/sowbugs?

Is this Oregon rock?

The live rock came from somewhere in the indo-pacific. The LFS is not specific...Tonga, Fiji, and Marshall Is. He get's stuff from all over the Indo-Pacific.
