I ordered some new filters/media/heaters from BigAls almost a month ago and a few weeks later the stuff hadn't shown yet. I called them and they said it was stuck in the warehouse for some reason.. so a week later I call them again and got the same story, but this time I canceled my order. Anyway, today it all shows up on my doorstep along with a CC charge. I gave them a piece of my mind & they told me they were refunding my card and to keep the stuff. Pretty nice! I almost felt bad for getting mad at them...

I've always thought they were a good customer orientated company. You were inconvenienced and should have been compensated for it. Sounds like you may have gotten a little over-compensated, but that's good p.r. for you! Lucky you.

I haven't ordered from BigAls, but that's the kind of story that makes me more likely to.
I've ordered from other online places and they screwed up the order to the point that I was hopping mad. It's amazing, though, how a little discretion to 'make things right' on the part of the customer service folks can undo any negative feelings.
I wish more businesses would note this...

man your lucky, how much stuff was it. i buy a bunch from them never got anything. this one time though they kept spelling my name wrong or something on my card because it kept getting declined so they called me and i called them back and gave them my cc number about 4 times then they say i dont know whats wrong want to try a differnt card. so i start of with my name and the card company and they say oh your name is john!! so we redid my first card with the right name and it worked.

Their price are great, but they should do something about the ability to track shipments. So many other online vendors let you track shipments by posting it on your order history or an email. Bigals only sends you an email telling you that your order has shipped, but no tracking number. :) Other that this minor gripe, I believe that it is quite hard to beat BigAls prices.

Only one word about bigalsonline, "UN-ORGANIZED". After the problems I had with them trying to get a Quiet One 6000 pump from them, they SUCK!!!

Well, that was your experience. For the other 98% of us, we are overall happy with them.

One more thing though. On their organization, I have to agree a bit. They have two seperate clearnence pages - I emailed them on this once, and they replied saying they'd fix it. Also, their system of 'Double-Points Wednesdays' is a bit unclear, simply because they have different times posted in different areas. It's also a bit unclear how you're supposed to redeem your points. Still, I sometimes find myself buying from them instead of the Pet Store I work at...

Their prices are great and they are usually really nice on the phone but I have had a couple of bad experiences with them. I had an emperor start to leak on me just over 30 days after I bought it and they wouldnt replace it. I ordered a DI filter from them that came broken(which was ridiculously underpacked, like one box in another just enough bigger to fit it in with no padding, which I pointed out to them) and they told me I had to file a claim with UPS and they wouldn't credit me. Neither was glaringly wrong of them, but I was still disappointed. The only two times I had problems ordering from them I went away with the feeling that I was on my own.
