I have a 6g tank with one african dwarf frog and one male betta. Just got the frog yesterday and was wondering if any of you had any tips on how to feed the frog his bloodworms without the betta snatching up all of them before they float down to the bottom? Mind you the tank is probably a foot high, so it takes a while for those worms to float down. Would it be ok if I were to put my hand down in the tank and try to release the worms near the frog?

As long as your hands are clean and free of chemicals. I hand feed my african clawed frog, and she readily attacks my hand for food. These frogs lacka tongue, so use their hands to eat--kind of a weird experience the first time. My girl is very aggressive, and will try to pull a finger in as well as any food.

For the dwarf, you may have more success with either a turkey baster or a riser tube. I used a riser tube to feed my spiny eel, and he learned to swim up the tube to get the food floating down.

This is why I keep my ADF's separate from my fish tanks. My frogs do fine with getting ahold of their food, provided no fish are there to eat it all! :p

I occationally feed mine blood worms, but I mainly feed them the frog bites HBH makes (or whatever the brand is). I give them like 6 bites a day. Sometimes I feed them every other day or so.

Turkey baster and bloodworms. Or, if you can find a small animal syringe that the vet uses for oral meds on little creatures like cats and mice those work too. Plus, sometimes you can get a couple of them for free from the vet.

I always fed them at night, when the tank lights have been off for a while.

My Albino's love to be hand fed! Especially the female. Of course she also loves the fact that she can get away from the male! Putting it bluntly my male's very horny.;)

As for the dwarf, I agree with the turkey baster idea. Should work great!

Picked up a big plastic syringe at BA's and put an air 18" air tube on it..... worked perfect and when they see the tube coming it's hilarious .. they start that pecking thing they do when they eat before the shrimp even come out of the tube :D
