I have a great example of the strength of bond that a pair of GBRs form:
Two months ago I prepared a 20g for use as a "honeymoon" tank and watched my GBRs in the community tank to see who was pairing off. I had a most deffinate pair, regular female and a long fin male (one of two) I hoiked them out and acclimatized them to the new tank for a few hours then let them loose.
Well for two months they have been sociable but not that sociable. He flares up pretty good but she stays blah and no "monkey business" at all.
So last night I netted the other long fin male and started acclimatizing him while I removed the original male from the HM tank.
After a couple of hours I put the new male in the tank and............both the male and the female lit up like Christmas trees and got to vibrating so hard I thought their scales would fall off. Within seconds she was backing up to him and they were making Ts. This continued until lights out.
This morning they emerged together from one of the rock caves I had made for them.
I guess I originally snagged the wrong male, the little female sure let me know when I had her Mr. Right.......
