How big is your tank?
Plecos and Cory catfish are good tank mates for Angelfish.
You can also add schooling fish that are not fin-nippers and not small enough to be eaten by the angelfish when they get larger.
A few tetras to consider are emperor tetras, black phantoms, red phantoms, rummy nose, diamonds or black skirts. Tetras, in general, should be kept in groups, no less than 5 at least with plenty of space to boot. Cories and plecos (research species first!) certainly are nice additions. Kuhli loaches, zebra loaches (Botia striata) and Botia kubotai are also a few you can consider but these don't come from the same continent as angels do so I dunno if you're really trying to go with strictly Amazon origin or intercontinental community.

This is just what workes for me...
Currently I have Angel fish housed in a 54g w/ a bolivian ram, albino paradise gourami (he's kind of mean!!!!,) CPO's, Japonca Shrimp and........wait for it......Guppies! I have the guppies in there because.....of their ability to supply live food! (Bad Kerry, it's terrible I know) Everyone seems pretty happy. I have a large piece of wood that I attached mosses to where the shrimp hide out along with the CPO's - RCS didn't work in this tank as they were too small and seen as part of the food chain!

I would add a good sized school of tetras and some cories or smaller plecos. Definitely research the Plecos carefully and get a good source.
Adult angelfish should have about 10 gallons each, so you should think of what would be a good amount of fish for a 30 gallon tank, since you have 40 gallons taken up when they get to full size.
