food selections by hikari

i use their bloodworms and have used their brine shrimp as well as micro pellets and algae wafers
fish can't get enough iof their food
i want to try someother types of freeze dried foods by them but want a little more info
daphnia - what is it?
krill - ? info pls -
ocean plankton - good for FW ???
tubifex worms - ???
can you give some info of the benes of these types of food -
for ex - woul you feed krill over plankton and why etc

also anyone use their sinking carnivore pellets or sinking wafers for bottom feeders might try these as well

I love the Hikari products I think they are the best on the market. I use brine shrimp, daphnia and bloodworms from their frozen foods....

The daphnia is great too, but it is very small (small bits) and compact in the cube. The fish love it, but I have to be careful that they can eat it before the filter gets it... Usually don't use a whole cube or turn the filter off for a bit. The tubifex worms are messy and my fish don't like them too much. Kinda make a mess in the tank!

you will have to try which ones and see what your fish likes, and which ones your fish will be able to eat. i only tried the krill which only bigger fish will eat and the tubiflex only the goldfish ate those. they also have nutrional facts on the back if your looking for highprotein. the krill are like shrimp but smaller and the planton is like krill only smaller. daphnia are little water flea bugs. i used the sinking wafers and the algae wafers, all the bottom feeders like them. i never tried the sinking carnivore but ive heard good things, they are too expensive i use the normal carnivore, its the only pellet my arowana will eat.

I've used the Hikari freeze-dried Daphnia and my fish love it, but I think it's probably only good for small fish. The freeze-dried form is tiny particles, almost powdery. I agree that you have to turn off the filter to feed it. I've only used Wardley's freeze-dried tubifex worms. My fish liked them fine, but not having previous experience with freeze-dried cubes, I put in way too much & had to fish them out. I plan to continue feeding both. They seriously swell up. It should be noted that I have yet to put a food in my tank that my fish didn't attack, so if your fish are at all picky they may respond differently.
