Okay..so i started a thread a couple of days ago on why one of my loaches is staying in his shell all the time. Turns out the pair of them are swapping!!!! So one day, the larger one is in the shell, the next day the smaller one is in the shell. And the one that is out of the shell at the time is fine... :help: lol. Here is a picture of the shell (with the larger one in it). Any help on WHY this is happening would be appreciated!

They are only about 6 inches long. pH is about 7.2 and water quality is good. They have had the same water conditions for 2 years..And i do swap around all the tanks hiding spots etc. (making a different environment). So I'm lost. Please help :)

Thankyou, Haydn.

(sorry about the photo quality)

That shell is not appropriate for clowns. Please remove it & instead add wood &/or rocks for hiding places.

I agree that it's not appropriate. And I think they are too large for it anyway. Some people buy a piece of PVC to make clown loach caves, even covering the PVC with adhesive then sand/gravel so that the PVC blends into the substrate more.

Thanks guys. When he left the shell last night I quickly took it out.. Lol. Now they call that dark cave in the background home ;) lol. Thanks again :)
