Hi. Guess what?
It's been almost 2 years since I've had that ~900 gallon pond. It's been through a lot of stuff, including earthquakes, animal attacks, droughts, and acid rain. And because of that, the "guess list" has changed over these almost 2 years. Right now, here's what's in the pond:
FISH:
That big, black goldfish.
My grandpa's goldfish who was originally in a bowl. I babysat it but then they made me keep her.
A few goldfish babies, as a result of both being in the pond.
A few gambusia (might be counted as "goldfish babies" as well)
AMPHIBIANS:
I haven't seen my beloved frogs in a while, maybe the cats killed them?
A few days ago, I bought 2 bullfrog tadpoles.
REPTILES:
Back in February I bought this turtle for my mom's birthday, for nostalgic purposes. (she "rescued" a 1 inch RES turtle from under a bench back in her day, and she wanted one again) It was in a tank for the first few days I bought it, out of fear it would attack anything in the pond. But now it is in the pond and I'm still nervous it ate the frogs and those 2 tadpoles I bought recently. I'm not sure what happened though because it's just hooked on pellets and won't eat anything else. Do RES turtles eat amphibians?
INVERTS:
Ghost shrimp, lotsa them. I think they all died during the acid rain, but I bought maybe 20-30 a few days ago, and now I hope for them to breed like crazy.
Malaysian trumpets. Lotsa those too. They survived everything.
Leeches. I see those occasionally when I stir the pond up to scoop of floatin algae, but after handling them, I see that they don't target humans.
Dragonfly larvae. I had all these last year but now I see none this year. Possibly grew up or got eaten.
And that is the current list of what's up with the pond. However, I wish that the pond had:
Crayfish
More tadpoles (from toads and whatnot)
Some salamanders
Adult bullfrogs or leopard frogs
So based on the current stocking, would this be okay, or no? BTW there is a lot of algae growing on the sides and oxygenating the pond up a lot so???
