I know that they need to be kept in large tanks, but how large are we talking? If I wanted to put 5 in a 30 gallon tank with 1 cichlid and 2 gouramis would that be ok?

I posted in your other thread, but I'll go ahead and post here too. That would be a bit snug stocking, but you should be fine, at least for awhile. What kind of cichlid and gouramis are you thinking about putting in it?

I have the other 3 already. I have a 2 blue gouramis and 1 electric blue jack dempsey. They all seem to get along ok, especially for being in such cramped area. They "dominant" loach seems to pick on my gouramis a little bit, but never nips at them.

Should be okay for awhile then, but the EBJD could use a bigger tank eventually as well. I'd say just get the 60g as soon as you can, but until then they should all be good.

Haha I would get one right now if I could. It's just that right now I rent a room in a house so there isn't much room to have anymore tanks ya know? Once I get to an apt (and can afford one) I am definitely all over getting a much bigger one!

I'm not sure if you have a JD yet or not but I wouldn't get anything unless you have a proper housing for it for the rest of it's life. Unless you're gonna be setting it up tomorrow and you're positive.

Haha, I know what you mean. As soon as I have my own place, I'm sure it'll be filled to the brim with tanks, lol.

Haha, that'll be me in a few years. I'm just lucky my parents let me get the tanks I have, with all the room they take up, haha. It always seems like I just don't have enough though, lol.

Just some crystal red shrimp and maybe a few microrasbora sp. or killifish. Figured it would be a nice, relaxing tank.
