Frontosa's because I think they are prettier than cons, and well, I really like most Tanganyikan cichlids.

My vote goes to the Convict. A cichlid for anyone on any budget. A scrappy, spunky, chunky fish that can hold it's own with cichlids 3x it's size. A prolific cichlid that will do anything to keep it's own kind going. You gotta respect those qualities.

Frontosa are very impressive looking when full grown. If you can wait that long. And have a 6 foot tank. And don't mind them occasionally getting freaked out and bashing themselves into a rock, etc. Handsome but a little on the clumsy side. And way too expensive.

Zarie blue and purple are the only expensive ones. 7 Bar isn't expensive at all.

So say you. By me they are ALL expensive. Especially if it is over 3 inches in length.

Definitely a frontosa. Cons are too common and no take no challenge whatsoever to keep or breed. On the other side, cons can get some great color.

C. Gibberosa gets my vote. My "mpimbwe" are my babies...and by far the best fish I've ever owned.

Ok, so frontosas are beutiful, stately and live amazing as a family unit. But the humble Convict, cheap, can live in a small tank, breeds like a rabbit and looks spectacular. If you want to intruduce a child to aquaria, how can you go wrong in giving them a 2ft tank with two convicts and watching the joy in having them breed fish for the first time and watching the care the parents show for their young?? Enough said!!
