ramfan,

Do not see your pic, although in the past I have used aquarium salt and raising the water temp to clear up a similar case.

Hope this helps.:)

Maybe its just my computer, but I dont see any picture.

If your fish does indeed have fungus, it can be treated with a number of products out there. I couldn't name all the meds I have seen for this fairly common disease.

Treating your tank for something as "simple" as fungus shouldn't disturb your biological colony, not significantly anyway. Your tank should be fine...provided you take out the carbon before treating your tank (if you had any in before) and then make sure you put it back in after treatment was successful, in order to remove the meds. ;)

hmmmmm....OK. Now you got me jealous! :p

What size tank is that beauty? It looks big, I don't know if it's just me but it looks amazing!

I wish I could have a tank that looked so...so...clean!

Do you ever get algae in your tank, or on your decorations & plants? I have a lot of the same things in my tanks as you, but they all eventually get a moderate coat of green algea on them which makes for extensive cleaning quite often! Let us in on your secrets. :D

As for the fungus, like I said it is treatable and is quite easy to treat actually. Do you have a picture of the fish with the fungus?

Aquarium Fish Guy,

Your paragraph about continually fighting algea struck a cord with me. I have gone to bleaching my plants (rinsed many times), using filter aide, trying a nitrate filter pouch, and frequent water changes.

I had been using proper pH, which folks here got me to stop using due to the phosphate. I also was probably overfeeding and not vacuuming the gravel well enough. I now feed everyother day and do a much better (deeper) cleaning on the gravel with my siphon..

It gets better after a water change, but not clear. And in four or five days it creeps back in.

Any suggestions?

RamFan,

Hope you don't mind me adding a twist to your thread. Your tank is beautiful. Guesing from your name, we live in the same town (St. Louis).

Well and see...I dont mean to confuse people with what I am saying because if you have severe algae all over your tank, something is up. But I have always had a light coating of algae on my decorations and plants, etc.

I have watched my feeding, vacuuming, and lighting and every checks out fine. For me, I think it goes back to my lighting. I like to keep real plants, and I have high wattage lights. This is a big factor in why I have the algae I have.
