My Dragons Eye polyps, have a mass of clear tubes sticking out of them. I can see them clearly, when the polyps are closed.

My pic's though, aren't as clear, as I would like, but I will display them, anyway.

Can anyone tell me whether those Tubes, are friend, foe, hitchhiker, or the precursor to reproduction?

Sorry, I haven't posted in awhile, since my tank leaked out. That was over the Fathers day weekend. But my Mom passed on the 1st and I'm, just now getting back on schedule.

Thanks in advance, for the input. anyone might share with me.

That's actually a sponge. Under normal circumstances, they are fine and harmless, but under the right ones, sponges can encroach and cover corals.

Ok thanks, do you happen to know what kind, it is? So far, it a slow grower.

Hope I did the quote thing correctly?

Have a few sponges mixed in my zoa patches and they have not caused any issues. Looks like a fairly small area so if the sponge does start to encraoch you can expose the rock/frag to air which should kill the sponge. The zoas will fine out of the water for a while.

Thanks,

Would hate to kill it! Would love to frag or propagate it?
Any suggestions, before I search AC or google how to?

Sorry, I can't help much there. I have fragged a few corals but never attempted a sponge. It may be best to place a small rock nearby and allow the sponge to encrust over it and then remove the rock.

Ok, that plan was simmering in my mind. Thanks for re-enforcing, the only other option, I could think of.
