They're invasive species and can tolerate substandard conditions very easily. These fish are also known to transfer from one body of water to another with their unusual ability to "walk" on land.

I noticed it said gars of all species also, does that mean like alligator gars?

Yes, it does. Unfortunately, a lot of people still flout the rules and regulations and still able to obtain the illegal species. It's not worth being caught over a fish though.

yea~ but people do tend to want things that are prohibited more cuz they are scarce to others around them, I guess its like the saying goes "you want what you cant have" :T
