HELP.. I have a 30 gallon that I got from jacksonville.. I bagged up the fish sucked the tank down to 3 inches with the filter left int he water... trasported it set it up got it running.. upped the temp and now my angles have spawned.. theres eggs all over the filter tube on one of the ob filters I run. They are having a hard time getting the eggs to "stick" and are knocking alot off just trying to fertilize them. Also what the heck can I do about my rainbow fish.. they are like a ravaged pack of jackles.. every time the angles stop for a seocnd one will distract them then the other 3 rush up for a nibble. I'd like to do something..

I turned off the filter that they were spawning on... should I or can I use a big net over the tube or a basket type thing to keep the other fish away until they hatch?

I doubt you'll save any from the spawning. I have two spawning right now also in my community tank.. At least they found a nice big java fern leaf to use but I'm not looking to save any to be honest. I *should* have expected it since I moved in the smaller angelfish from another tank a week ago but I'm unsure if I want to get in to the fish fry business... I'd need to open up a more suitable tank to handle them and doubt it's too realistic to find more tanks to raise them in. Right now, I don't even have a brine shrimp hatchery to set up to feed them. :) I also have cherry barbs in the tank which spawn regularly and provide a lot of *entertainment* for the angelfish and a very few fry who survive.
