I am starting to put together everything I need for my Marineland 150 gal tank(36x36x27). The light I am going to use came in yesterday; Lumatek DIMMABLE 250W / 400W Metal Halide Electronic Ballast, a LumenMax ELITE, with a 250w Radium. What I need to order now is the tank :o and build the stand. I am going to use my reef octopus super reef 5000, my mp40w, 1 k4, 3 k2s, 30 gal sump, 30 gal fuge, 55 gal frag tank(I might use my 100 gal for a frag tank if I can't sell it)

I still need to figure out what I am going to use as a return pump, I will be pumping up from my basement 1 floor. There are a few pumps for sale on my local club site: reeflow 3200 for $250, a blueline 100 for $100, and a panworld for $200. I think I am going to use the 2 predrilled holes for a bean overflow and have a return come over the top. I want to go with as little watts as I can with my return pump to get 3-5x turn over. I will use my powerheads to get the rest in my DT and frag tank.

Any help or tips are welcome. TIA

There has not been any physical progress yet but my plans are coming together. I bought a Reeflow 3200 for my return. Most of the work I have been doing on the tank is planning the tanks in the basement. I think I am going to build a 24”x24”x12” frag tank out of some glass I already have, and a 36”x36”x12” grow out tank from some glass I need to order.

This is my plan for the tanks in the basement. I am going to be using a Herbie drain and am not sure the flow that will be going through the DT so I was going to go with 1, 1 ½ or 2” bulkheads in each tank for flow to the next tank. The highest tank will be my sump, and then will be the water change tank. The 3rd tank will be the growout tank, followed by the frag tank. The last tank will be a fuge with a baffle holding back the cheto, from there all the water goes back up to the DT.

Here is a quick sketchup I did

Thanks and yeah i am taking it slow. I want to plan for everything befor I start putting it together. I also might not do the 36x36x12 grow out tank, I will see how everything goes.

I dont think i explaind the water change tank. I am just going to set it up so the flow can bypass that tank and go to the next tank. This way i can empty the tank fill it up with freshsalt water, I could even mix the saltwater right in this tank, without shuting the whole system off. Then when it is ready just turn the flow in this tank back on and shut off the bypass.
