About 2 months ago I got myself a Royal Gramma. This fish is a beautiful addition to my tank, seems very healthy, eats like a pig, looks good, friendly. I have read in a book that one can keep up to half a dozen in a 75 gallon tank, they like to have an overhang and caves. And they are also supposed to be hardy. Right now my tank is 200 gal, have 1 clarkii, 2 damsels, and the Royal Gramma. Guess I am a believer in not stocking my tank to high. Just a few healthy fish is just as good as more is my thinking. Besides the live rock is great.
I am wanting to possibly purchase maybe about 4 or 5 more (Grammas). So I just thought I should ask if that sounds OK to the more experienced reef keepers here or anyone with experience with these fishes. Are they as hardy as I think? I read they like to be in groups.

I've never kept them myself but everything I've read certainly seems to indicate that you can keep several in a tank much smaller than yours. http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/images/graemlins/icon_thumbs.gif

I notice Orion has successfully spawned them.

ONe more question. Should one get more males, more females, does it matter, and can anyone tell them apart?

My online supplier said they sometimes have a gramma that gets beat up a bit. But they also keep more in a smaller tank than mine and I have good hiding places so they figure should be OK. I didn't know that they could pick on each other untill they told me, so that is good of them to say so.
