Friday I took a vacation day and took my kayak over to Bolivar to do some fishing. Bolivar is across the bay from Galveston, Tx. and accessed from Galveston via ferry. I had a great time and caught fish all morning; unfortunately most were peanut specs and rat reds, neither of which were in the slot size for keeping. I did manage to bring home a keeper flounder and red. I was using soft plastics; bass assassins and trout killers. At one point I was surrounded by a school of reds and hooked up every cast for an hour. I fished the area east of the jetty and south of the beach from 100 yds out to the boat cut. The water was flat and the wind calm. I could have paddled to the rigs if I'd been so inclined.

The flounder was not quite 18" and the redfish (red drum) was about 21".
