I'm seriously thinking about getting a pair of gourami. It seems the Honey Gourami is the least potentially aggressive and they are small if not the smallest. How is everyone personal experience with this fish? Would appreciate some input. If I would get 1-2 of it, better to get 1-2 male only, or a male/female pair? Thanks

I have a male-female pair in a 5. They are very active, though shy fish. I've never seen aggression between mine, but they are the only mid water fish in the tank.

I have had them in the past, as a male-female pair. The male colors up beautifully when there's a female present. The male can be a little "pushy" with the female when ready to spawn, but it shouldn't be a problem. I have never seen them bother other fish.

I have 1 in a 20 gallon and he and the flying fox go at it all the time. No one gets hurt and it is mostly chasing back and forth so I don't mind. It is funny to watch him slap the fox with his feelers though.

The chocolate gourami seems to be a bit smaller and does well in groups. They are quite passive and apparently a little on the less hardy side, though ours seems quite tough.
