so... my Julii (sp?) catfish has been behaving differently than my other catfish. he is in my tank with 2 peppereds, 1 emerald, 1 dwarf frog, a female betta and 2 guppies (temporary)

my amonia is fine and everyone else is behaving normally. the only thing i can think of is that the different species of corydoras interact differently and he is lonely. the 2 peppereds play alot with eachohter, but the emerald and the julii don't really swim with them.

so..... do the different species of cory interact differently, or is there some other deaseas going on in my tank? the julii's top fin had been down for a while

Corys like to school with corys of their own kind. That might be the issue :(

Yeah, they know they're different. What size is your tank? What's your nitrate level & WC/vacuuming schedule? Could be a sign of lessening water quality along with loner stress, hard to say

Me things you you're making too much of personification for your fish.

Corked are definitely lonely without another of the same kind. Even if you can just get one more julie Cory, they will school together. I have only 2 julies left in my discus tank, both males, and they are always side by side and don't even notice the 12 black cories in there.

ok, that's what i thought. i dont have any more room in my tank for another julii, but ill keep my eyes open for another one for my mom's tank.

You know, as cories get older, they tend to be less active. Is he older than the others? They tend to calm a bit. My advice is to watch him, but don't stress too much. You can move him to a QT tank if you have one. I wouldn't worry unless he shows signs of stress. Hope this helps!

he's actually my youngest lol. he was really active for his first week. well, anyway, he was fine until i had an ich outbreak, i'd say it was about two months ago. i had a fizzing ich treatment and he liked to play in the fizz. since then he has been acting like i have previously discribed.

hmmm-- I think just give him some time. I am not sure. What are your water parameters?

i had 2 juli corys pretty much since i started about a year ago and they play tag with each other or whatever they are doing
i recently added a new one 5 days ago and although it doesn't exactly hang with them or hide for that matter he seems nice and healthy i also added a single pepper cory(srry i wanted three only had 2 and 1st died immediately) and he doesnt school and seems fine....lol srry long rant
maybe your fish has a mild case of ich(i read they dont get cysts but they rub on things) and if you dont think so then just feed him some fancy foods and he might perk up

Bloodworms, frozen and frozen brine shrimp and carnivore pellets seem to draw mine out like crazy!

Get 5+ julii and the fish will be happier.

I'm sorry you lost him. Keep a close eye on the tank since you don't know what was wrong. Do some extra water changes

THIS

I would take back the other corries (or go to 4-5 peppered) and just keep a conspecific group. Personally, I would go with a group of sterbai, panda, julii, or aeneus(bronze or albino) as they tend to be of the more active variety.

In the 6.6 you could probably go to 4 pandas(as they tend to stay smaller), and the betta, and take back the frog(may be a bit too much bioload). Makes for a pretty color combo with the white/black and a colorful betta. May want to up to a AC20 filter. You could also consider taking out all the fish other then the betta and go with 6-10 pygmy corries.
