I am just so excited and everyone else I tell just looks at my like I'm crazy!!! This is my first spawn and I'm giddy like a school girl!! OMG OMG OMG!! :clap:

Whoo hoo! Congrats! I had to google to see what males look like (hint, hint). You should be good for a couple weeks after the eggs hatch. Then the parents, 1 or both, maybe ready to spawn again & you may need to move them or the fry. That's assuming they're like other apistos.

Thanks everyone!!! I just got back from a camping trip so I thought I would provide the requested papa pics as well as a pic of the cutest two eyed blobs I've ever seen!! If you look real sloce on the floor of the cave thats them!!!!!

I'm thinking that I will seperate them in a week or two. For now I will let them be as they seem to be doing a heck of a better job then I could! ;) They are so cute!!! If I can figure it out I will upload a video that i took.

I regret to inform everyone that the proud papa has passed away! Everyone else is doing fine babies are growing nicely!! I'm not sure what happened to dad but I am currently dealing with a leaking/in use 54 gallon tank so I didn't test the water. This weekend will be my fist DIY aquatic project......resealing while my other fish hang out in what is loving referred to as "the big blue tub" creative, I know :)

Did you consider sand instead of gravel.

Sorry about the male. Apisto females can be very nasty with fry and beatup/kill the males.

Where did you get them? Are you sure they are Norberti? They look like maybe Melgar.

My Melgar male died suddenly too. They were not spawning at the time tho.

Hmmm now you make me wonder about the type of Apito....I bought them from aquabid. The babies are coming along beatifully! They are so cute!! I'm a fry fanatic :)

PS thanks for the thoughts regarding the tank.....for my three day weekend I resealed it twice and believe I will have to do it AGAIN before it holds water. Now there is a bubble in the seal???

I have thought about sand but it was of course after the fact! Isn't it always?? I will however change from gravel to sand on the currently leaky tank! <-this is me seeing the silver lining! Oh look at the opportunity?!?!?! BLAH!

Either way they are great fish and will have a happy home.

GL with the resealing. I cant say I ever had the pleasure of doing that. Just make sure you use the correct (pure) silicone.
