Try to get a picture from the side. My guess would be a female, but we really need to see the fins better.

Is it just me, or does that look like a baby of a CA cichlid. Something about it is just not quite right for an apisto.

Here is a side shot. He is supposed to be a apistogramma cacatuoides but i'm not sure what color he is supposed to be.
Can anyone tell me? I think the store said golden something but i'm not sure.

Looks like a Cac. I dont see any signs of it being a female, so I would say male. Possibly a gold form and he may get orange fins.

How big is it? It looks like a cacatuoides, but if it is big enough, a male should have more body and fin color, and that spike on the dorsal, plus longer and pointier fins.

but the eye's aren't red.
I guess if these guys decide to breed it'll be it'll make some interesting genetics. I have a double red male and two other females with colors.

Looks male. Females usually have the distinctive black "legs".
Judging by the size of the eyes, it still looks pretty young and small.

I believe he is about 4-5 months old now. Also looking at pictures of the white gold female cac's makes me believe that's what she/he is.

It's not an albino, the color variant is called "orange flash". It looks like a male, because the first few dorsal spines are a different color than the rest, which is common in males. You should see the spike develop soon.

haha yeah no worries. I was really confused too. I know she was at least 4 months old. I think all the fry will die but so far the male is helping her guard from the other two females in the tank.
