Hello all! I am new to Aquaria Central and wondering if two geophagus orange/red heads pair up would there be a chance to use another male that u want to breed with that certain female rather than the male that paired up with it? I have two males and my alpha males does not look a stunning as the younger one. So is it possible? or the alpha is stuck with the female for life?

Welcome to AC and have the alpha male ane female paired up yet? If not just remove the alpha male and hope the other two spawn. Thats the best I can think of

well they did long time ago and he pair again with another female so i guess trio?..lol...but this other male is my favorite so just wonder if it is possible? the two males fight at times...but sometimes i think it can be another female check out my photo of the other male compared to my alpha male.

I like the alpha a lot more it's coloring on it's fins is very bold, the first one may be a female Im not quite sure.

If you vented them and they look U shaped it's female of they look V shaped then it would be a male. If the smaller one is the same shape as the alpha then there males.

All depends on there environment it can take a week to a year. If you feed well keep the tank clean with regular 25% water changes at night with cooler water it should get them going feed them well, bloodworms, night crawlers, and tube flexworms are what I feed my breeders.

WOW!..haha.thats going to be a bit long for me since it took me forever to see them breed for the first time...hahaha...owell i guess i just have him for show and hopefully he find someone new from the batch of fries from my alpha male..hahaha but I am going to try for a month and see what happens...if nothing then the alpha is back to do his duties...hehe
