Hi everyone! I have an Eclipse 12 gal that I was going to use for a quarantine tank. I was previously told to get a sponge filter for my QT so that I can seed the sponge in my main tank and use it in my QT whenever I need to get it running. I was wondering if I could do the same thing with my bio-wheel? Could I place my bio-wheel in my main tank to seed it and then use it in my QT? Would it have the same effects as using the sponge? Would it take longer to seed the bio-wheel? Thanks.

It will have the same effect.

I've begun cycling my Eclipse 12 quarantine tank. I had a quick question. Right now, I'm running the tank with only a couple of pieces of PVC pipes, a heater, and one piece of shrimp. Should I be running the carbon filter pad that comes with the Eclipse tank, or should I run it dry. I think I read somewhere on this forum that the carbon pad creates a rise in nitrates.
