Discus: Yes or No?

I want discus, maybe just 1 or 2. Id look after them well but what should I do?
If I had them in a 40 gallon with a school of tetras or harleys, how many water changes and how much % of water every week?

Any ideas, suggestions, help much appreciated thanks!

They do best in groups of 6 or more and growing them out, you need to do 50% w/c every other day. Later, when they are adults, you can do w/c of 50% once or 2x a week. They need very warm water and very clean water!

If you cant keep at least 5, or have a mated pair, I wouldn't reccommend getting them.

And yes, a 40 gal is too small for 5 discus.

IMO 40 is too small for discus.

A forty would be okay for a spawn tank...but look for a larger tank for a proper grouping that is just for viewing, IMO.
