Okay so yesterday was tank cleaning day, I noticed in my angle and ram aquarium that just beside the edge of my clay pot there laid my pleco on its back, I was like crap............ I will get it oou when I clean that tank. Well a few things came up before I got to that tank and I guess it was a few hours later I started the water change and was gonna dip her out and there she was on the side of the clay pot cleaning. Only thing I can guess judging by the amount of time it laid on its back was it was over tired , or it got to close to the angel eggs on the leaf and the parent fish knocked it flippen out hehehehehe. But this thing was not moving ...any one else have one do this ?

I've read of plecs sometimes lying on their back, like they got too relaxed & let go of their driftwood. I've never seen mine do it, I'm sure it'd scare me too. I hope it really is ok, no red marks or anything?

could just be a quirky thing that your pleco decided to do just to freak you out, lol.

to be on the safe side, keep an extra close eye on her for the next while.

I have had my female do the same thing (looks like she just fell off the side of the pot and didn't wake up) a few times

My big male BN grabbed an algea wafer, rolled over on his back and just laid there chewing on it. It was so funny and of course I didn't have my camera handy.

I had the same thing happen to me last winter! I freaked, went ohh C*** and started thinking swim bladderillness, bloat WTH!?! Hours later all was good and it acted like nothing happened. If you are really worried, keep an eye on it and feed some peeled peas( if you don't already). It won't hurt any and can only help. Plus, they will thank you for the treat.

Mine use to do that on a regular basis (I think she learned that trick from the clown loaches). I would stick a chopstick in the tank and nudge her until she moved. Now she only plays dead at the back of the tank where I can't quite bug her.

Sometimes if you look carefully you can see the eyes move, which is usually a good tell on whether they are playing or not.

mine like to do it in their cocunut hut. Just lie there upside down with they're head sticking half out. I find it hilarious!!

My female always slept on her back under the driftwood after a large meal. Seemed like she was too fat and lazy to hang on lol. I had her for 3 years and she never had any health issues, so I'm thinking it's just normal behavior. The male never did it, but he was never nearly as fat.
