If you were looking for a good algae eater that wasn't always in hiding, besides a Bristlenose, what would you pick?
And another question would be, are most Ancistrus plecos the same, as far as algae eating and personality?

often...it depends on the algae that you are seeking to be consumed.

Nothing particular in mind. Just don't want another useless pleco that hides in a piece of driftwood and doesn't consume any nuisance algae or diatoms.

Assuming you have the proper size tank, SAE are one of the best all around algae eaters. Next, assuming they wont become lunch are a variety of shrimp and/or snails that eat algae.
