What is this cory species?

What cory species is my avatar? I have 10 of them and thought they were Schwartzi cories. I just found that Schwartzi don't have a black dosal fin.

My LFS sold them as "Julii" but they are not although their body marking is very similar to that of the Julii.

Whew...it took a long time to check it out. It could be the leucomelas (spotted cory) but I'm not really sure.

It almost looks like a cross breed between a pepper cory and a panda cory. I doubt it though. I don't know what Im talking about when it comes to breeds LOL.

Not julii, 1 of the swartzii relatives, some are hard to tell apart. Pretty, which ever it is!

Black fin cory = Corydoras leucomelas :grinyes:

The melanistius looks very similar to the leucomelas but there seems a slight difference in the body marking between the two. I'll carefully observe mine during the feeding time. Well, whatever it is, it's my favorite cory species (I have julii, sterbai, peppers, pandas & bronzes).

I think I have the answer :p:

I've just googled the 2 by scientific name, and spotted that Corydoras melanistius does not have stripes on its tail, but Corydoras leucomelas does :)

So I'm pretty certain theres your answer.
