hello to all,

Just before Christmas, my husband and I purchased our first home. We are in the country and on a well system. We have just recently found out that there is a high iron content in the water. One top of that, the water in the house goes through a water softener. The water in my tanks is a reddy colour from the iron. My walking catfish and my large oscar seem to be alright, I was just wondering if there is something that I can put in the water to nullify the iron and the salt content.
Thanx, gunner

The water softener is not a problem. How are the parameters? I recall a thread on this about 2 months ago from someone who had high iron content. Anyone remeber the remedy? In the future you may want to invest in an r/o system.

Depending on what size tank you have, you may be able to use a Brita/Pur water filter to get rid of your iron.
