Can I let my magnum run continuosly. I am using it as a water polisher for my 55 gallon. I also have a ehiem that I am using for the biological filtering. If anyone wants clear water, this is the way to go. My water is so clean if it was not for the plants dancing with the current i would think there is no water in there.

You could do that...but your goign to be cleaning the 350 ALLL the time if your continuosly running the micron filter.

Jeffro,
Any suggestions on what to do with it whwn I am not polishing the water. Can you just turn it off and fire it up again when you need it or will the water get stagnant fro sitting in the hoses and canister. I purchased it for water polishing only. I did not think about turning it off.

Im not too familar with the 350 but i think they make a standard cartride for it(not the micron one) that you can leave in there and leave it running all the time and not have to clean it nearly as much.

I have been running my Magnum 350 for about 1 year now. When I need to polish the water I put in the micron filter otherwise I have the carbon cage and a filter floss sock that is made for the filter.

You can even place the filter floss sock over the micron filter to catch the big stuff so the micron stays cleaner.

I didn't see any diatom powder for filtration in the pictures...
I use the Vortex diatom filter and you cannot let the diatom powder sit for any legnth of time (stagnant, that is...). The trapped algae and bacteria will begin rotting soon..
