hey all, got a cory today from one of my local fishy forum friends. she's switching up her tank and i simply had to take this lonely little guy (he had no cory buddies in there at all :( ). and he's missing one barbel but i'm hoping it will grow back.

but now i'm wondering exactly which species of cory he is! dwarf size compared to my bronze cories (and their on the small side as it is), black splotches/spots, and A LOT of green irridescence in splotches all over. never seen one quite like this before.

i'm thinking hybrid of sorts (no idea what may have been crossed with what though!), but please give input! thanks.

Awww poor little lonely guy. I have NO idea what kind he is, so I am no help, but he is AWFULLY cute! :) I love cories.

he is super cute! and he's learned how to annoy my long fin rosy barbs already, hahaha! and saw him cuddling up with my big emerald cory too. me thinks they're buddies already :)

but peppered cories don't have the large blotches of green iridescence? that's what's got me pondering exactly what he is. his green iridescence is all over his body, in splotches. and the black splotches/dots don't match up with peppered cory colouration either......

Is he settled down? If he just got there his coloration might not be the exact he is. Also some peppered corydoras have the green iridescencr and some not so much.

My peppereds have a lot of green iridescence if the light hits them right. In low light it's not as noticeable.

the iridescence is VERY evident, very bright, and very splotchy, even when he was in the bag. not much stress at all for this lil guy, and i acclimated him pretty quick due to the need to get suppertime started for my super slow eating kidlett (i swear she's trying to set the world record for longest supper hour! lol).

he's also a lot smaller than the peppered cory profiles say, he's between 1 and 1.5 inches, and he is mature/adult.

oh lmao! i've never seen a cory look happier in my life! he's all over the tank, zipping, flitting, and wriggle-butting! and that's what i can see from the far side of the living room where i'm sitting on the couch and his tank is on the far wall of the dining room, lol.

i'll check in on him again in a bit, after feeding, and see if there's been any colour change since settling in. who knows, might be a pepper? might be something else? matters not if he's healthy and happy, eh?

I've seen some emerald cories look splotchy but not quite like that

he's definitely not an emerald. i have seen many an emerald and have a large female in my tank. this new guy looks nothing like it.
